Terms used in the jumping Castle industry

Jumping Castles
A plurality of vinyl intertwined together to leave a pillow effect in which air is pumped in which causes the rebound action

Combo
A jumping castle with a slide attached

Water Slide
An inflatable where kids climb up (preferably on the same viewing size) and stand on top of a platform then the kids slide down.  Most times it is not running water as that would just cause a mud pile in your backyard

Dry Slide
Similar to a water slide but with no water. It is always safer to rent any of these tall slide where the kid go up and down on the same side so that you can view it easily.  If you have a regular or small backyard you won’t have the space or room to have adults sitting at the back of the slide making sure the kids do not do stupid things.  Jumping J-Jays are part of Jumping Castles for Hire Brisbane so they will look after you.

Safety Bumper
An inflatable barrier in the front of a castle to stop the little kids rolling out.  Jumping Castles Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth all carry jumping castles with these barriers.

Shade Cover
Attached to a castle that stops the direct sun from hitting the bouncing area and the slide of a castle, combo.  This does not cover the sides as you still want the air to pass through the jumping castles or combos or slide.

Shower Cover
Similar to the shade cover which some smaller companies try and pass off as a rain cover.  It does not work the way you would like it to when it is raining.

Rain Cover
This is a tarpaulin fabric that will cover the inflatable that stops the rain coming in.  This is a separate cover that is fully tailor made to allow the rain to run down the castle to the outside to keep the kids high and dry. These cost $600 to manufacture so it is an added cost by Jumping Castle Hire in Brisbane but it is important when you’re running an outdoor entertainment company for children’s parties.

Partycastles
The brand name for Jumping J-Jays that supplies castles, combos, water slides and Interactives to the kids and event companies of Australia

Anchors
This is what holds the castles to the ground.  Whilst a castle is very heavy with the right wind conditions it can blow away.  All castles should have a minimum of 8 ropes and each rope should have a 2 tonne breaking strain

Baffles
These are the raised air filled chambers in the castles.

Turrets
The uprights found on the side of the castles

Inflatable Walls
This is a key to a successful jumping castle hire in Brisbane.  There are a lot of castles that have replaced inflatable walls with plain netting.  They have done this to save on costs and weight.  Please do not rent these.  They are flimsy and the kids are now not allowed to bounce into the walls.  Rent from jumping castle hire in Brisbane and your guaranteed all inflatable bouncy walls.

We hope this helps you on working out the special terms for inflatables.  If you need any further information you can call John at Jumping Castles for Hire in Brisbane on 1300 227 853

Adults on Jumping castles

This is strictly prohibited unless the inflatable is purpose built and insured for adults.  Most castles are not and if they are their not really big enough for adults.  The founder of Jumping Castle For Hire Brisbane, John Newton created one of the first adult inflatable companies in Australia (called Big Fun) and after years of night time events he found out that adults can last about 5-10 minutes on a castle.
After that the adults are totally exhausted and never come back for another ride.  With adult parties usually consisting of adult drinks the big kids just remember how hard it was to bounce and bounce on the castle.  Our attendant sits there for most of the night waiting for jumpers to come but they just never return.
If you want inflatable’s for adults you have to understand they can be dangerous as adults consume adult drinks.  By law no person using an amusement can be affected by drugs or alcohol.  The government does set a limit to what “effected “means.  In Australia there has yet to be a decent case on an accident with adults for this rule to be tested but do not let your party be that test.
Adults should stay off the kids castles.  Maybe hire a bucking bull from Big Fun here in Australia, they are cool and safe and will be used for the entire event.
